Happiness is only possible with faith

by Harun Yahya
There are many people around you who wander about with long, sulking faces, aren't there? Do you also think that the number of your acquaintances who started to whine constantly, the ones who get bent out of shape because of anger has started to increase day by day? Do your friends on social media constantly share their sentiments of boredom and state that they are bored out of their minds? Do they send messages saying "I am on the last straw of my patience!" "Enough is enough!" etc.?
Well, the commonality for all those people is that they either do not have faith or they have hesitations and doubts about their faith. Those people who do not clearly grasp the beauties that faith would bring them live through a very troublesome life in this world.
Our Almighty Lord described those people mentioned above in the 7th verse of Surah Yunus in the Qur'an as; "...those who are content with the life of this world and at rest in it." The sole goal of those people is to live the life of this world a little longer and to benefit from the perks of this world. Actually those people who prefer the life of this world and act unaware of the life in the Hereafter remain aloof from the beauties faith would bring to their lives. It is possible that they have never thought that the weakness in their faith is the real reason behind this cold world they are living in. As a matter of fact, it is very easy to change that cold and soulless life they've been living; thinking about the reason behind the creation of man and this world is enough for that.
Faith is the source of joy for man
People who do not believe look for reasons for happiness and some assume that they will find happiness in wealth, some in beauty or youth and some think that being popular and successful would make them happy; so much so that they find it odd and fail to understand when they see someone who lacks those qualities feeling happy. Such people, who evaluate everything in this world superficially and only target the joys of this world, can never be happy in the true meaning of the word. That is because the joy they feel inside stems from transient whims. The ambitions they have due to their desire to attain something turn into an illusion of joy when they acquire what they desire. However they lose their interest in what they attained and consequently their "happiness" fades very rapidly.
Almighty God tells us about the fact that the happiness that is so bound to this world would indeed be very transient in a verse of the Qur'an:
"Know that the life of this world is merely a game and a diversion and ostentation and a cause of boasting among yourselves and trying to outdo one another in wealth and children: like the plant-growth after rain which delights the cultivators, but then it withers and you see it turning yellow, and then it becomes broken stubble. In the Next World there is terrible punishment but also forgiveness from God and His good pleasure. The life of this world is nothing but the enjoyment of delusion." (Surat Al-Hadid, 20)

Devout, faithful people live happily and in peace in every minute of their lives

Faithful people never lose even a scintilla of their joy when there is shortness in blessings, when they fall ill, or when they are in any form of difficulty. They do not need any special reason for happiness; having faith is the primary reason for their joy and for their being thankful. They are fully aware of the fact that the hardships of this world are given solely to test them and hope for a beautiful reward in the Sight of God when they show patience in the face of hardships. This thought alone becomes the source of their joy and happiness: They make comparisons because they act on their good conscience and appreciate the beauty of the blessings even better with that comparison.
For those who do not have faith, the situation is exactly the opposite. Such a person who, let us say, has a house would feel jealous instead of being happy for a friend who has even a bigger house, and start making plans to acquire a bigger house himself; however, even that bigger house would not make him happy because God does not create happiness and joy as a function of the size of one's house, of one's beauty, fame, popularity or success. A person who thinks deeply would instantly grasp this fact.
Youth and beauty are temporary as well; people get old no matter what and lose their strength. Without faith that could cause great distress.
All the beauties given as the blessings of this world would give pleasure and joy only when they are shared with love, only when people act with the spirit of sacrifice, not when people possess them in extravagant amounts or hoard them; without faith all those blessings become instruments of distress and decrease the quality of life.
As the level of a person's faith increases, they start taking a greater pleasure from beauties around them. They find a beautiful aspect in everything and see the goodness in all things, great or small.
"As for those who had faith and did right actions, they will be made joyful in a verdant meadow.” (Surat Ar-Rum; 15)

Muslims and Quality

Quality Is An Important Part Of Islam

by Harun Yahya
Quality is an important subject in Islam, yet a way of life far removed from love, understanding, compassion, art and beauty prevails in some societies. Despite conflicting totally with the fine and clean life style a human soul would take pleasure in, this is still regarded as quite legitimate by those communities. However, a lifestyle without quality and a conception of life with no beauty are not acceptable for a Muslim.
This lifestyle devoid of quality can spread over a wide sphere involving all aspects of life, from a person's way of thinking to the pleasure they take from life, from their aims to their sense of beauty and humor, their posture and what they eat and drink. When quality is not valued and when people have no understanding of concepts such as beauty, it is possible that the world might resemble hell for them. The importance of quality, cleanliness and fastidiousness are emphasized in the Koran.
God reveals that Muslims must employ all their means possible to live an immaculate life. Quality is therefore one of the most important features of Muslim communities. However, there are also Muslim communities in some parts of the world that are deficient in that regard, sometimes out of a lack of information and education and sometimes because they learn about Islam from their traditions, rather than from the Koran. Those circles seeking to make anti-Muslim propaganda generally portray those images as a "true Muslim model." That is why we often encounter pictures revealing this lack of quality in Muslims in many parts of the world on the television, in newspapers and in videos. These images are used for a specific purpose in order to lead the world into becoming falsely acquainted with Islam.
Therefore, what many people think of when the word "Muslim" is mentioned is a loveless and joyless model that rejects science and fails to understand art, has no sense of humanity, has no idea how to dress well and is far removed from modernity. A way of thinking that takes no pleasure in music, that takes a dim view of joyful people, that takes no care with regard to cleanliness, that is unkind and unaffectionate and that regards women as second or even third-class citizens may be regarded as embodying the basic features of a Muslim in many parts of the world. That perception naturally leads to unease and negative reactions in the world as a whole and encourages people to turn against Islam.
The fact is, however, that people react against a false perception of Islam in their minds, because of the false models they see, not against the true Islam. To the contrary of this incorrect understanding of Islam, God attaches great importance to quality in the Koran:
For example, Solomon's palace, adorned with precious ornaments and a transparent glass floor, refers to believers' inclination for arts and aesthetics. Again the horses caressed by Solomon indicate believers' love for animals. Mary, who is "chosen over all other women", reveals the importance attached to women. The Queen of Sheba, who is the leader of her people, shows that superiority according to gender has no place in Islam. Faith means love, compassion, affection, friendship, cleanliness, goodness and peace; it means embracing the poor, the orphaned, the needy and the elderly and everything created by God; people, plants, animals and all things. Such a superior moral understanding will, of course, bestow an enormous quality and excellence on all spheres of life and on people's thoughts and behavior. Therefore, Muslims who abide by these moral values are the highest-quality and noblest people in the world.
Quality must be accepted and recognized as an important part of being a Muslim and it must be understood that it is also required by the moral values of the Koran. Once quality is seen in art, science, politics and everywhere else in the Muslim world, the negative opinion of Islam that has grown up in some people will disappear of its own accord. Everyone wholeheartedly agrees with "a climate of pleasant conversation involving the highest possible levels of love, compassion, affection, friendship, democracy, good intentions, social justice, art and science." That is the essence of the true Islam; the finest conception of all these attributes exists in the moral values of Islam.
Muslims capable of understanding the beauty of these Islamic virtues have a great responsibility to speak out about these facts to the entire world. When this responsibility is accomplished, it will completely prevent non-Muslim societies from misinterpreting Islam and developing unnecessary prejudices and concerns regarding it and the world will draw much closer to peace and tranquility. Thus, societies with different beliefs and ideas will be able to live together in respect and understanding.

Muslims Must Explain the World the Difference between Extremism and the True Islam

by Adnan Oktar

MISPERCEPTION: People's failure to distinguish between true Islam and extremism is the real problem

ANTI-MUSLIM voices are rising all across the world. In many countries, including the United States,  Great Britain, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Denmark, Spain and Germany, new measures are being taken almost daily because of the reactions against the presence of Muslims.  The increasing reactions are leading to serious divisions in societies.

Together with the rise in Islamophobia, bans on clothing aimed at Muslims have been introduced in public spaces. The construction of mosques or minarets has been halted in some places. In others, communal prayers in open spaces have been banned.

This reaction and fear towards Islam and Muslims have been propagandised through such artistic vehicles as books, films and cartoons.

This anti-Islamic sentiment, often supported through laws, has led to hostility towards Islam and thus to pressure, provocation and assault.

The stronger this perspective, which is being legitimised in the name of Islamophobia, the more Muslims are being exposed to persecution and loss of rights.

In many European countries, when a rise in the crime rate is identified, it is generally associated with migrants, particularly Muslims.

The acts of violence in Islamic countries and acts of terror perpetrated by radical Islamic terror organisations further strengthen this perspective in the West.

The rapid rise in the Muslim population in the world as a whole, compared with other beliefs, further intensifies these concerns of the West.

The world's Muslim population is expected to increase by about 35 per cent in the next 20 years, from 1.6 billion in 2010 to 2.2 billion by 2030, according to new population projections by the Pew Research Centre's Forum on Religion and Public Life.

With the term Islamophobia, the fear of Islam felt across the world is reflected as if it was a legitimate idea, and hatred and hostility towards Muslims become normal and ordinary.

Research has shown a significant increase in attacks on Muslims and mosques in the US and Europe in recent years. More than 450 Muslims, 85 per cent of them women, had been attacked in France last year.
In the last year and a half, 1,200 anti-Muslim attacks had taken place in England and Wales.

More than 500 mosques had been attacked in the US in the past 10 years and more than 100 in Holland in the past five. One hundred and twenty attacks per year take place in Germany.

The Islamic world, however, has not taken any effective measures regarding the path to be adopted in the face of this terrible scenario. The main reason is that Muslim communities are unable to identify the source of the problem and thus, the solution.

Indeed, some Muslims even regard Islamophobia as, rather than a real threat, "a virtual perception" or "a means by which politicians can shape mass opinion as they desire".

Since they are so mistaken on the subject, they are unable to find an effective solution. They hold symposia and talk about the unnecessary nature of this fear of Islam. They make calls for a joint campaign against Islamophobia and apply to the United Nations to declare that "Islamophobia should be a crime".

However, they fail to see the real problem and therefore cannot tell the world about it. The fact is, however, the way to put an end to Islamophobia is to explain the difference between "extremism and true Islam".

The reason for this groundless fear afflicting Western countries is simply that they confuse extremism with true Islam. However, since they lack the knowledge with which to distinguish between Islam and extremism, they target the real Islam and Muslims.

It is actually extremism they are trying to ban, not Islam. While true Islam is based on peace, love, affection and understanding, extremists are encouraging hatred and enmity.

While true Muslims encourage goodness, beauty and friendship with people of all beliefs, extremists depict Muslims as harsh, loveless and unwilling to compromise.

While Muslims seek to build a world of peace, tranquillity and love, extremists are encouraging conflict.

While Muslims try to bring art, science and beauty to the places they live in, extremists misrepresent Islam to the world on the basis of a total lack of quality.

As a result of these non-Quranic beliefs and lifestyles, fear and hatred of Islam are growing stronger. Across the world, extremists are ending up getting killed and also causing innocent Muslims to suffer harm, persecution and death.

The Islamic world must therefore distinguish between extremism and the true Islam, and make it clear that "extremism" is the sole cause of Islamophobia.

HOW LONG WILL THE ISRAEL-PALESTINE CEASEFIRE HOLD?

 by Gülşah Güçyetmez
We are all curious as to the answer to that question. And we are praying for the establishment of a lasting peace this time. The conflict that has been going on for years comes to a halt with agreements reached from time to time, but it has still not come to an end. Because of these conflicts, the innocent peoples of Palestine and Israel cannot live in peace. And yet both sides share a common belief that will be instrumental in peace being brought about … ‘The King Messiah, or Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh).’
The Jews are awaiting their savior the King Messiah (Moshiach), or Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh), who is promised in the Torah for many years. Rabbi Maimonides, regarded as one of the greatest Torah scholars since the 12th century, stated that the twelfth of the 13 fundamental articles of faith of Judaism is "to believe in the coming of the Messiah [Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh)].”
On that basis, the Jews’ beliefs regarding the “Mahdi” are set out as follows:
"I sincerely believe in the coming of the Messiah [Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh)], and even if his coming is delayed, I await his coming every day."
The situation of those who deny the coming of the Messiah, or Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh), is described as follows in the Mishnah Torah, one of the sacred texts of Judaism:
Whoever does not believe in him [the Messiah], or does not await his coming, denies not only [the statements of] the other Prophets, but also [those of] the Torah and of Moshe (Moses [pbuh]), our teacher... (Maimonides, Mishnah Torah, Laws of Kings 11:1)
In addition, the Shmoneh Esrei, a prayer which Jews recite three times a day, also contains a prayer to Allah for the coming of Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh) to be imminent.
In the same way, the coming of Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh) in the End Times is also very important for Muslims. The coming of Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh) is foretold in a great many reliable hadiths in al-Kutub as-Sitta.
Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh) will come among my community. … In his time my community, the good and bad, will be blessed with incomparable blessings, the sky will cause plentiful rain to fall and the earth will hold nothing back. (Al-Muttaqi al-Hindi, Al-Burhan fi Alamat al-Mahdi Akhir az-Zaman, p. 9)
The Prophet Muhammad (saas) has described the events that will take place in the End Times, the present day in other words, in great detail in the hadiths, and hundreds of events have miraculously taken place one after the other. The fact that these signs have come about is at the same time proof that Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh) is living in this century. Our Prophet Muhammad (saas) reveals in a hadith that those who have the honor of seeing Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh) must also join him, in other words, be united in love:
Whoever lives to see him after you, let him join him even if he has to crawl over the snow. Let him join him, because he is Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh). (Hadiths from Jalaluddin al-Suyuti's Classification: Signs of the Mahdi of the End Times p. 14.)
The savior awaited by both Jews and Muslims is Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh), who will be an instrument of love, union and peace. The oppression, disorder and conflict in the world will not come to an end unless Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh) is instrumental in it. That is because everything happens in the manner Allah commands. And Allah has chosen Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh) as the person who will be an instrument in peace in the world. There is therefore no point in people looking for other solutions than Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh) and acting upon them as they see fit. Indeed, none of the methods tried so far have been of any use. Allah will cause love to rule the world once people act on this desire of His. We will enter the Golden Age revealed in the hadiths. There will be no interference in anyone’s beliefs or opinions. The climate will be a most tranquil one of peace and brotherhood, one in which everyone, believers and non-believers, will be treated with affection, when the poor and orphaned are not oppressed, when everyone is protected and when justice reaches its finest form. Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh) will have moral virtues that everyone trusts, will prioritize democracy and will be a spiritual leader who approaches all things with justice.
Full peace has still not been established between Israel and Palestine. Yet this is astonishing because Muslims are the children of the Prophet Ishmael (pbuh) and the Jews of the Prophet Jacob (pbuh). The way that two brothers descended from prophets are in a state of conflict is a miracle, and obviously the work of satan, the antichrist. By Allah’s leave, Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh) will thwart that stratagem. And, insha’ALLAH, a climate will be established in which Jews and Muslims can live together, in peace. We are currently going through birth pains described in both the Torah and the hadiths but, insha’Allah, everyone will soon see that Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh) is the only solution for our salvation.

Ignorance and Islamophobia in Eastern and Western Societies

by Didem Ürer
Lack of education, lack of culture and the ignorance that results  from these have today become a problem threatening all societies in the world. On the one hand are some Islamic countries, almost two-thirds of whose populations are illiterate, and on the other is Western society which, despite looking modern and civilized, is furnished with entirely distorted and baseless information on a number of critical issues and which is unaware of exceedingly important facts.
Although ignorance is a concept the some seek to equate with the people of the under-developed Third World, Middle Eastern and Islamic countries, on closer inspection it is seen that it is also a disease very widespread in Western societies.
That is because possessing knowledge does not just mean being able to read and write, graduate from specific educational institutions or specialize in various fields. The lack of accurate information that allows one to understand one’s own life, the purpose behind one’s existence, the events going on around one and the wisdom behind them, and moreover to be filled with incorrect and distorted hearsay on the most vital issues, is in fact the most advanced form of ignorance.
One of the most striking instances of this conception of ignorance is Darwinism, which has become a settled belief in Western societies.
Darwinism and the materialist thought based on it have deprived Western societies of such vital truths as the existence of Allah and creation for more than a century.
Although thinking that Darwinism and materialism are scientific facts and holding a blind faith in these fabrications is today portrayed as being intellectual, it is in fact an example of ignorance.
Such people are unaware that hundreds of millions of fossils in our possession show that life forms on Earth have remained unchanged since they first appeared on Earth and that no such hypothetical  process as evolution ever happened. (For detailed information seehttp://haber.rotahaber.com/Evrim_sihirbazligi_371784.html)
Yet the entire education system, the conception of science and the world view of the Western world, portrayed as the cradle of the civilization today, is actually based on the scientific-seeming fraud that is Darwinism, or in other words, blind ignorance.

The Great Ignorance that Shapes Western Societies: ‘Islamophobia’

As with the case of Darwinism, severe ignorance concerning Islam is also widespread in Western societies. Some Western communities, brainwashed by hearsay, nonsense and groundless prejudice, perceive Islam, a religion of peace, love, union and brotherhood, as entirely the opposite, a source of terror and savagery, a bloodthirsty religion of fear (Allah is beyond that). That terrible ignorance prevails from the man on the street to people at the highest levels of  state. It is this ignorance and misconception that underlie the decisions made and the policies of state adopted against Islamic countries and Muslims. These decisions and policies are also supported by the vast masses of people.
On the basis of the anti-Muslim propaganda spread by certain circles every day and the perverse model and various negative examples put forward in the name of the religion, some Western people have developed a prejudice on the subject of Islam: Yet the most important mistake these people have made is that they have not read the Qur’an, the only reference point by which they can come to know the true Islam.

The real source of Islamophobia is a fundamentalist conception of the faith based on ignorance

There can be no doubt that the true Islam based on the Qur’an cannot be the source of Islamophobia. However, that cannot be said of the non-Qur’anic model exhibited in many Islamic countries and the life style of people who implement that model under the name of Islam. Extremism based on blind ignorance, bigotry and a distorted conception of faith shaped by tradition and superstition prevails  in these countries. The result is a society and model that leads the way to all forms of violence and ferocity, that turns its back on art, science, beauty, modernity and civilization and that treats women as second-class citizens. The greater part of Muslim communities adopts this concept of religion - passed down from father to son and imposed by the state - as if it were Islam. The fact is, however, that all Muslims need to learn the essence and original form of their religion, by reading the Qur’an, its true source. That will be instrumental in all Muslims immediately being freed from ignorance.
Western society that sees this conception of religion put forward under the name of Islam, and one that is a complete violation of the Qur’an then develop an unquestioning reflex and defense mechanism against that picture: Islamophobia.
As we have seen, both sides are equally to blame for the emergence of Islamophobia, which means nothing less than bloodshed, violence, destruction, pain and tears that have persisted for decades. There would seem to be no imminent end in sight to this pain, fear, suffering and doubt so long as both Muslims and Western society insist on not learning about the Qur’an, the essence of Islam, and on maintaining their ignorance on the subject.

The terrifying dimensions of the ignorance in some Islamic countries

Statistics on the subject are exceedingly important in revealing the extent of the ignorance in some Islamic countries:
Levels of illiteracy:
Afghanistan        >> Women:  97.6%   Men:  77.3%
Yemen              >> Women:  91.8%   Men:  57.4%
Pakistan            >> Women:  89.2%   Men: % 68.3
Bangladesh        >> Women: % 86.6 Men: 62.5%
Morocco            >> Women:  79.7%   Men:  52.9%
...
This shameful list goes on to include other Islamic countries. We are not dealing with an ordinary lack of education and culture here, but a terrible ignorance including the inability to even read or write. The levels of women here are particularly striking. This basic ignorance of course shapes the level of societies’ general culture. For example, the number of books published in one year in the entire Islamic world is only half that of the books published in Greece alone.

Turkey’s privileges and leading position

Turkey is the sole exception to this dark picture encapsulating the Islamic world. Turkey is a country that lives by the essence of Islam in a manner purged of bigotry and fundamentalism, in the light of the revolutions of Ataturk, democracy and secularism. It is a country that has swiftly adapted the moral values of the Qur’an to its social life and cultural values.
In terms of industrial and commercial development, economic growth and modernization, it is many times ahead of other Islamic countries and among the leading states of the world. Since Turkey successfully institutionalizes the ways in which it has grown and its good and superior features, it enjoys a powerful state structure, character and heritage by no means indexed to powerful names and leaders. The number of books published in Turkey is some five times higher than the number published in all Arab countries, revealing a crushing superiority in cultural terms.
All these concrete facts once again reveal that Turkey plays a pioneering role in the Islamic world. It is clear that when considered one by one, no Islamic country could possibly assume that role. Wealth and natural resources by themselves are not enough for this task.
If we look at Saudi Arabia, the richest Islamic country, we see that apart from oil, it has no art, science, civilization, culture, administration or organization to offer the Islamic world. A large segment of the country gives the impression that it is equated with bigotry, fanaticism and ignorance, not to mention quite far removed from democracy; a puppet state whose strings are always pulled by the West and that, rather than spending the riches bestowed on it by Allah on Muslims, transfers them to the coffers of the colonialist powers of the West.

Investment in peace and education, rather than war, will also benefit the West

Of course, millions of people who are not even literate will only know hearsay; they simply have no means of confirming the accuracy or inaccuracy of what they are told. It is therefore very important for all our Muslim brothers to be able to receive a good education and to know the Qur’an very well. Otherwise, it is clear what a mistake it is to ascribe the nonsense propagated in the name of Islam to the Qur’an and Islam.
If the money spent on fighting radicalism and terror in the scope of Islamophobia were to be spent on education, the bloodshed would cease and the whole world would consist of more civilized, enlightened and cultured societies. For example, the $60 billion spent by Pakistan against domestic and external terror would by itself be enough to lift the darkness of ignorance from the world.
If the West initiated an educational mobilization aimed at both itself and at Muslim countries so they could learn about the real Islam, instead of trying to eliminate Islam and the Islamic world, which it regards as a threat to itself, that would benefit Muslims and all mankind, insha’Allah. In that way, Islam as described in the Qur’an would clearly be revealed as a religion of love, peace, well-being, freedom and happiness, contrary to what is popularly imagined. Muslims able to read and write would learn their religion from the Qur’an and be freed from radicalism and nonsense. They would begin to behave in accordance with the Qur’an, and the West would learn the truth about Islam from the Qur’an. In consequence, Islamophobia would be wiped from the face of the Earth, and a framework of happiness and beauty bringing the world to the threshold of the Golden Age would be established, by Allah's leave.
